Overview of Role
We are looking for an Editorial Assistant with great knowledge of horse racing and betting, twinned with a pride in their work, to join the team on attheraces.com and work alongside award-winning writers and talented tipsters.
Reporting to the Website Editor, you will work closely with the Editorial, Marketing and Commercial teams at attheraces.com as well as the Production team at Sky Sports Racing.
We are looking for someone who is versatile, with the ability to quickly edit, upload and write content. A good eye for design and some experience in HTML code and online journalism would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Editing and uploading written content including blogs, tips and features to attheraces.com, our dedicated microsites plus our greyhound racing site. Capturing video from Sky Sports Racing and publishing it to attheraces.com and our dedicated microsites. Writing original and strong betting content for attheraces.com and our dedicated microsites to coincide with Sky Sports Racing output, dedicated microsites and key events. Creating bespoke content that is SEO and social media friendly.
Desired Skills and What We’re Looking For
You will be a racing fan that follows the sport closely every day. A strong interest in international racing events as well as what happens in the UK and Ireland on the All-Weather, Flat and over Jumps, is essential. An interest in, and understanding of, greyhound racing is beneficial.
You will have excellent written and communication skills and a sound sense for news judgement. You will be a creative thinker, take initiative and demonstrate a positive 'can do' attitude.
A team player who thrives working with others. A strong work ethic and prepared to go the extra mile. Relevant experience working in an office environment or educated to degree level. Strong attention to detail and sound editorial judgement. An ability to write punchy, engaging editorial. Able to use own initiative and to meet very strict deadlines. Willingness to learn with an open approach to new ideas. Flexible and able to meet the demands of the business. Good commercial awareness. Duties will be five working days out of seven per week, including alternate weekends. Working hours are usually from 9am-5.30pm, but evening and Bank Holiday work will be required, particularly around busy periods.
The Editorial Assistant position will be based at the Sky Campus in Osterley, West London.
