We are looking to recruit a permanent, part-time Equine Office Assistant.

The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of Equines, must hold a full clean driving license and be self motivated and able to work on their own initiative, as well as being able to work as part of a team. We would expect the role holder to be able to provide cover in the Equine Office, which may include answering the telephone and general admin duties, therefore, the successful candidate must be confident in dealing with the public and have a warm and engaging manner.

The role will be varied and will include:

· Basic lab procedures including running blood samples and sending samples to external laboratories

· Booking in / updating client records using our PMS system

· Answering the Equine/large animal telephone calls when required

· Ensuring equipment is kept in good working order and maintained / serviced as required

· Other Ad hoc duties as required

The Equine assistant will also be expected to assist with:

· Keeping the practice vans in a clean and tidy condition.

· Maintaining the vans are in good working order (this includes ensuring that arrangements are made to replace worn tyres, checking water and oil is topped up and they are booked in for service in accordance with the service schedule)

· Maintaining the large animal laundry area

· Ensuring the large animal store is organised and tidy

· Monitoring the drug stock (including stock held in the cars)

A practice van (together with a fuel card and Sat Nav) will be available during working hours. It is a condition of employment that a full UK driving license is held.

Experience of working in a vets or similar animal based environment would be useful, however full training will be given. General computer literacy would be required.

Ideally, we are looking for approx. 15 hours per week, we can offer some flexibility with the exact times to be worked, however, the role requires them to be worked mid/late afternoons, 3 – 5 days per week.
