Role
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and confident individual to join the team at Merllyn Sport Horses. This is a hands-on role within a busy competition yard, working with high-quality sport horses. You’ll be trusted to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the yard when the team is away at shows, so reliability and initiative are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day yard management, including overseeing routines and horses, when the team is competing away
Plaiting and clipping to competition standard
Preparing horses for shows, training, and sales
Confidently and safely driving a 3.5 tonne horsebox
General yard duties to a high standard, ensuring horse welfare is always the priority
What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience working on a competition or professional yard
Able to take charge and keep the yard running smoothly in the owners’ absence
Skilled in plaiting, clipping, and turnout for competition
Confident driver of a 3.5t horsebox (license essential)
Hardworking, committed, and able to use initiative
Salary
Competitive wage, up to £35,000 for the right candidate, depending on experience and skill level
