Role Summary As a Stud Hand you will be a key part of the team responsible for the daily care, welfare and preparation of thoroughbred broodmares, foals and yearlings. You will work within a friendly, professional environment and contribute to the stud’s breeding, rearing and sales preparation operations. Key Responsibilities Daily husbandry of mares, foals and yearlings – feeding, turnout, stable/box preparation, grooming and handling. Assist with covering, foaling and early handling of foals (as required) under supervision. Help with yearling preparation for sales: handling, walking, grooming, turnout, stable work. Maintain clean, safe and well-presented stables, barns, paddocks and equipment. Monitor stock, report health or behavioural changes to senior staff and veterinary/farrier teams. Work as part of the wider team and support colleagues across stud operations, including alternate weekend shifts as required. Ensure high standards of stock welfare, yard safety and professionalism at all times. Required Skills & Attributes Good level of horsemanship and experience working with broodmares, foals or yearlings (preferred). A strong work ethic: hardworking, reliable, conscientious and flexible. Ability to work early mornings, late evenings and alternate weekends. Good observational skills, able to detect subtle changes in behaviour or health. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and with physical tasks (lifting, bending, handling large horses). Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Full UK driving licence desirable. The package includes a remuneration package of approx. £34,000 per annum, private medical insurance, death in service benefit, personal accident insurance as well as a generous annual company bonus scheme.
