9am to 5pm every Saturday and Sunday (15 hours per week)

Salary :
£11.78 per hour for age 21 and over
£8.86 per hour for 18-20’s
In addition, we offer shift workers a premium pay rate on Sundays (time and a half) and Bank Holidays (double time).

JOB PURPOSE
To welcome visitors, introduce them to the charity’s work and help to generate income through encouraging donations, promoting fundraising initiatives (including the charity’s Adoption Club), and by working in the centres’ quality assured Cafés and Gift Shops.
Fundraising - Visitors, adoptors and supporters
• To help deliver a positive and high quality visitor experience to all visitors, ensuring they are welcomed to the visitor centre and informed of the charity’s work and how they can help.
• Under the guidance of the manager, to promote the charity’s fundraising initiatives, particularly the Adoption scheme ensuring that visitors are positively informed about, and given the opportunity to adopt and meet with, their chosen animal.
• To learn as much about Redwings as possible, remaining up to date with the charity’s work, such as fundraising messages, updates and information on the charity’s rescues and welfare work and communicating these to visitors as advised by the manager.
Café and Gift Shop
• To work in the centre’s reception, cafe, and gift shop as required, undertaking duties in line with internal and external rules and regulations in order to deliver excellent customer service.
• Under the guidance of the manager, to continually monitor displays, maintain stock levels and comply with all related paperwork and procedures.
• To maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all areas of the visitor centre including reception, gift shop, café, memorial and play areas, toilets, and walkways.
• To adhere to national hygiene standards and Redwings’ catering and Health and Safety procedures at all times.
• To undertake all transactions accurately and concisely.
Working with colleagues to :
• With other Team Members, the Team Leader and Visitor Centre Manager to communicate openly, honestly and effectively, ensuring information and messages are passed along in an appropriate manner.
• With Trading colleagues to adhere to best practice with regard to gift procedures, the EPOS till system.
• With the Equine Centre Team to present a positive and informative Redwings visitor and supporter experience with particular regard to our adoption equines.
Additional Duties
• To travel to meetings and undergo any training as required.
• To act at all times as an ambassador for the organisation.
• To embrace any new duties that clearly fall into the remit of this role.
• Undertake any other duties, which may be reasonably required.
The post also carries governance and statutory responsibilities :
i) Health and Safety aspects of the team’s work, within the Visitor Centre
ii) Data protection and appropriate confidential
