Racing Welfare is a national charity dedicated to supporting everyone involved in the British horseracing and breeding community. We are looking for a passionate individual to join our Welfare Committee as a Beneficiary Representative. If you believe in the importance of supporting our industry and its people, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities: As a Committee Member, you will participate in biannual meetings, often conducted via video calls, and occasionally in person. We value an inclusive environment where diverse viewpoints are welcomed and encouraged. Meetings will include: • Monitoring and enhancing the Welfare strategy and policies. • Reviewing individual welfare cases presented to the Committee. • Assessing the impact of legislative changes in our sector. • Addressing current challenges and providing guidance to the main board for high-level decision-making. Additional commitments include completing a one-day committee member induction and approximately two extra days of commitment each year. The initial commitment is for three years, with the possibility of transitioning to a trustee role after one year. We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have: • A minimum of three years' experience in the horse racing industry. • A genuine passion for advocacy and support within the racing community. • First-hand experience with welfare services in the sport and a desire to share insights. • A strong interest in promoting the wellbeing of industry professionals. • A dedication to contributing to a long-term welfare strategy for our community. Please note, this role involves work related to young people and vulnerable adults and will require a satisfactory, enhanced DBS disclosure. We also conduct checks against the DBS barred lists for staff working with these groups. Your Impact: As demand for our services rises, your role will help enhance our welfare initiatives, ensuring that individuals within the horse racing community receive the support they need. Join us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who work in this industry. What You Gain: Working with a knowledgeable team of executives, trustees, and fellow committee members offers a unique opportunity for professional growth. You will develop essential board member skills and have the potential for advancement to a trustee position after a year. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All applicants must declare: • Any unspent convictions and conditional cautions. • Any spent convictions and adult cautions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2020). Applications will close on 9th of May 2025.
